Korean Painter, Dok Hi Kim was born in 1952. She holds Arts degrees from both Korean and Australian Universities and has exhibited in many countries throughout the world. Dok Hi Kim explores the "Substance" of light in many of her works. Rather than attempt to capture the image if a concrete object or expressionist mood, Dok Hi Kim's works appear as reflections. Some have the faintest of horizon lines running through them but they mirror each other in that source of the light they portray is veiled or subdued by something obscure to the viewer. The effect that is produced, through her graduating tones and metalicus brush-strokes, is that of an ephemeral shimmering moonlight which refreshes both the eye and the soul. "Light births from darkness into the colors of nature. Water and growth live on light force resulting in a movement and change - Blue and green ripple and flow among flora emphasising the need for light to enhance it."
